Getting Your License

Easy as 1, 2, 3.
  1. Register at one of the sites below and study for the exam. All information, questions, and answers potentially on the exam are available for study.
  2. Take the practice exams until you consistently get a good score.
  3. Find and take the exam.

I met a new ham on a Facebook group that passed his license exam just from taking the practice test until he could pass the exam. He wasn't even sure how to connect his radio to his antenna. Apparently no understanding of coax and connectors. If he were to get on the air and not follow even the basic operating rules and courtesies, it would be frustrating for other operators. But, if he could set up a basic radio go kit with spare power and a gain antenna, he could play a VITAL role in emergency or disaster communication, even if he just relay messages when someone called him. More training would be even more useful, but just having the capability and ability could be invaluable.
